I saw a video from a guy from my country that had immigrated to Canada some years ago and he says that newly arrived immigrants aren't allowed to work for 6 months (and that can go up to 8 months since it takes 1-2 months for the request to be approved).

Is that true?

Also to being accepted by a university/college do i need to pay for 1 semester in advance and prove that i have funds for the entire course (e.g. if it lasts for 3 years do i need to prove that i have enough to pay for those 3 years?)?

It would be great if people that have already immigrated posted how much on average they spent a month on the first year.

I think it might depend on the province... IN Saskatchewan for example you are allowed to work parr time in campus with out a work permit... And during summer vacations you are allowed to work full time off campus with out any additional permits but your study permit...

Do i need to prove that i have funds for the whole study period? If i plan to do a college for 3-4 years, do i need to have enough money for 3-4 years of expenses in Canada to get a student permit?

Need to show funds for at least 1 year tuition plus 1 yeah living expenses... I repeat at least.... If you show more much better...

Good luck applying for study permit..
