Hi I'm in the process of doing a little research about spousal sponsorship but i got a few quick questions.

1)Me and my wife are planning to apply outland in august, we are getting married in July in Canada. Unfortuantaly it will take 8 months for the process. Is it possible for a way to extend her "visit" to Canada. What would have to be done, I'd rather save the thousand dollars worth of airline tickets.

2) Are finger prints of my spouse mandatory? I was reading somewhere and it said it was but she is insisting it isnt. Which is correct?

3) She is very scared about entering Canada and telling the security that she plans to get married. She thinks they will not let her into Canada and question why she is staying in Canada so long. She has her return ticket 6 months from now. Also she just left canada in march, and her stay was 5 months long. Would border security give her a hard time based on those facts?

Thank you

#1. You can Apply for an extension but there's no guarantee that it'll be accepted.

2. It depends on where your spouse is from. My husband didn't need to give finger prints but if you're marrying an American they need to get an FBI police clearance (I think that's what it's called) and for that they need the finger prints.

3. Yes it's possible that they might give her trouble. The thing is they are letting her in as a visitor, so they have to believe that she's only visiting. She should be able to show strong ties to her home country like owning a house, or proof of a job, rental agreement or something. It depends on what kind of an officer you get, lots of ppl on this forum say that going in and out and getting extensions granted are not a problem if you're from a visa exempt country but my brothers girlfriend just got here a couple of weeks ago. She's German and just wanted to come stay here for the summer while my brother saves up some money to go travelling with her. They kept her in customs at the airport for 2 hours and granted her 5 months instead of 6. They really hassled her, went through all her bags, testing stuff for drugs, asked her the same questions over and over again, told her no one was waiting for her outside when he was. Just be prepared. It's different for everyone. Driving over is probably way different from flying in too.
