First I'd like to thank you for opening and hopefully reading my post, anyway on to my question.

I would like to ask what is the best approach to get an immigrant visa to Canada, I intend to stay in Duncan, British Columbia. I am currently in the Philippines and would like to immigrate there. I was given different options and would like to get feedback on the easiest and fastest option.

1. Provincial Nominee
2 Sponsorship, a friend of mine offered to sponsor me; is this possible?
3. Apply on my own... I took the point system exam and got 72 points.

I have sent my resume to countless employers and to no avail got the response "we are hiring people that are already in Canada". Thanks for taking your time to read this message and I would really appreciate it if you could give me feedback on the best option.

I think, your friend can not sponsor you.
If you got 72 points, you can go for the last option (if your occupation is on the 38 occupations list)
If I missed something, please wait for senior members to reply.

72 points are great, dont waste time and go head to apply. Friends can't sponsor as far my knowledge is same as above, but if you have any family, relative that living in canada legally, would be great. If you are under 38, you have pariority. Good luck

Unless the OP has at least one years experience in the "list" he can't apply unless he has an AEO from an Employer in Canada or has worked in Canada for 1 year.

thanks guys! I was just wondering whats an OP? AEO is an employment offer right? the problem is most of the job opening there needs you to be in Canada to be at least entertained as a prospective applicant...

ruthven,

with your 72 points you dont need and aeo to apply as a skilled worker.

just follow the simple steps in the instruction guide and you can do it yourself.

you can ask everybody's help in this forum.

there are members here from manila who can help guide you through the application process.

good luck!
