Questions - Request for Documents and Passport Copies

Hello everyone!
Today is a good day because we finally got an email from Ottawa!
They are asking for:
* confirmation of his current mailing address
* copy or scanned image of passport

I have a few questions regarding this.
1) My husband has been staying with me for the last two months for a visit. His old home in the US where he was living before he visited me in Canada got sold (he was living with relatives). What address can he give? Was he supposed to update CIC with a new address?
2) Will they be sending materials over to him?
3) What will they have them do after he sends them his address and copy of passport?
4) Does this mean that he is THISCLOSE to becoming a permanent resident?
5) Is he going to have issues at the border since he's been visiting me for a while?
6) Will I be allowed to "flagpole" with him?

Explain exactly that and give the Canadian Address. If he had that address in there, or had it for you, it should be fine.

2) Will they be sending materials over to him?
Yes. It's called a COPR

3) What will they have them do after he sends them his address and copy of passport?
They will send him the COPR via the mail and then he will have to land by a certain date that the COPR will specify.

4) Does this mean that he is THISCLOSE to becoming a permanent resident?
YES Exciting isn't it?! What you got is called a Passport Request


5) Is he going to have issues at the border since he's been visiting me for a while?
He shouldn't at all.

6) Will I be allowed to "flagpole" with him?
Yes you can, you will have to sit while the officer talks to him alone though.
