Hi everyone

I started a job at a really small accounting firm in April with $13 per hour, at least 32 hours per week. The firm is pretty small with only 5 employees including the boss. The office is built at the boss big house. No benefits offered. The duties I am doing is exactly what list on NOC 1311.

Today I got a job offer at a medium size company with a job title of Accounting Clerk. 40 hours per week and 30,000 per year. the job duties are below

Prepare general ledger and journal entry.
Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Processing of Vendor invoices and expense reports.
Assist with reconciliation of supplier and inter-company Accounts Payable balances
Assist in processing weekly check runs and mailing checks to suppliers.
Update and retrieve financial data.
Examine financial records and transactions; ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal control.
Develop and maintain cost findings, reporting and internal control procedure
Perform clerical duties; such as maintain filing & record systems, perform general office duties

It seems like more Accounts Payable and Receivable. I have asked if they can modify my job duties on the employment letter.

I have couple of concerns
1. Should keep my current job or take the new offer?
2. Is that ok the office is located at the boss's house?
3. Would $13 be to low to compete with others who have higher wages with same job ?
3. My current boss will issue the employment letter for my immigration, but he keeps ask if I am going to quit once I get my PR. so I guess if i change my job during the year, I wouldnt be able to get the employment letter from him as he will get pissed off. If he refuses to provide employment letter, is that means I can not use the experience there for CEC purpose ?
4. Prior to my current job I made 42K per year, around $23 as payroll analyst. Will this big change on my salary ($23 to$13) affect my CEC application ?

I hope you guys can help me out. I have waste one year on my work permit, because I work as a payroll analyst at a large corporation and realized payroll is not qualified.

Best Regards

Thanks

Sorry to hear that you have to leave your payroll job to find another qualified Job for NOC. I may not be able to understand your problem completely but I guess Payroll Analyst/Advisor/Officer are recognised and qualified by CIC under NOC 1432.

I have seen a post from an applicant who said CIC rejected or maybe asked for detailed documentation because the company he used to work was traced in a House. So I guess this may cause you the problem later on. However, people been through this problem will be in better position to guide you.

Hi, thanks for answering. my question is not the payroll job. I have left the job and got a new accounting job in the small firm. and today i got another job offer with a medium size company which i have listed the job duties on this post. I dont have which job i should keep to apply for PR in comparing the two job duties. and the firm i am currently working is very small and the office was build in the boss's big house.
