Hi,

I had a few questions regarding soft landing.
I am from India, currently residing in the USA on a student visa, and I have received PR Visa and CoPR document from the IRCC.
I was planning on performing soft landing in January last week and stay there for 2-3 days, but had a few questions on my mind:
1. Are CoPR, Passport/PR Visa and proof of funds the only documents required during admission to Canada?

2. I have read a few cases where people were requested by the IRCC to visit their office to re-submit photographs for issuing a PR card. If after soft landing I go back to India, and IRCC requests me for a visit to IRCC office for photograph resubmission, how can I do so?
Do I have to travel back to Canada to do so? or is there any alternative?
If I have to travel back to Canada for such a purpose, how can I do so given that I would only have a CoPR with me and I cannot travel to Canada via plane/bus/public transport on just a CoPR?

Thanks in advance :)

1. yes
2. if you get a request for photographs to be resubmitted you are not required to visit the IRCC office. you will need to courier the new photos to the address in the email. if possible, leave behind a few photos with friends/family during your soft landing and they can courier it if required.
3. PR cards take about 4-6 weeks or even 6 months on a case by scenario. if you are looking at coming back to Canada without a PR card - safest option is to apply for a PRTD in India (takes about a month or so). or you can fly to the US (if you have a valid visa) and cross the border by personal vehicle using your COPR (many threads about this on the forum)

Thanks a lot! Understood now.

1. You'll also want to carry the List of Goods Accompanying form and List of Goods to Follow form. They'll stamp this and you'll need it in the future when importing anything.

Should we take photos while we are in Canada? What is the recommend place to take photos?

only if you are doing a soft landing and have someone with whom you can leave the photos, its recommended to do so. reason being many cases have come up where the PR card photos have been rejected and required to be resubmitted. saves the trouble of having to courier them from overseas. you can get them clicked at select walmart or rexall outlets (especially ones at subway stations). check before going if they have the facility
