Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Well in April my bf wants to fly back and stay with me and my family. However he will have only worked at his current job for 7 months at that time. He wants to stay with me for 5 months because I have been extremely depressed and he wants to stay with me to make sure I improve. What do you recommend we do? I don't want him to lose his current job because it took him forever to get one here but he is determined to come down. I would like him to be able to return to working there when we come back. We don't care about being paid for his time off just that he have a job when we come back.

What happens though if he doesn't get the job back and doesn't have one at the time we send off the application? Will this matter? I mean he intends to get a job as soon as possible and is going to work hard to see that he can have this job when he returns and if he doesn't he will be working to get a job before sending off the application. However, what if he can't get a job until a few months after sending the application? Will this be a big deal?

Also, we were looking into getting life insurance but are afraid that with him having cystic fibrosis they will not accept him. However the province medical covers ALL the expenses of everything. Any recommendations on obtaining life insurance with this disease?

Is this a spousal sponsorship? If so, you are ok as long as he is not on welfare or in bankruptcy proceedings.

I don't know anything about life insurance for someone with cystic fibrosis, nor can I counsel you on whether him leaving his job is good for your relationship or not. :) That part you will have to figure out for yourself.

Since he is your boyfriend, are you applying under common law? Doesn't that state you have to live together for a consecutive 5 months? I'm a little confused here. If you were married it wouldn't matter, but common law is a little different I believe.

Yep we are common law and you have to live together for 12 consecutive months which we have as of november 12th. We plan to travel to my home together and still live together. Then fly back here where we will finally submit the application. Just not ready to right now because for one we don't have the money and I would like his health to be up as much as it can before he travels. Plus he wants to visit my family again.

Thanks though everyone. I have read up on everything and I am fairly certain that he won't be disqualified. Even so we already planned on including a letter from his parents saying they are willing to let us live here and support us until I obtain PR status.

Make sure you have a contingency plan in case he isn't allowed to stay for five months.
