I got my second PR card in 2008 still valid untill 2013, I used to work in middle east as consultant on rotation and meeting the residency requirement, I usually get through the Border after replying lot of questions (some time not much) on residency as I have many stumps, visa on my passport on entry exit, I am always found okay as my residency obligations are met in last five years, my family live in Canada and my son is also born there so it is usually not problem for me to prove many thing they want to know, but this time I stayed five months out of Canada and going back with my family in this july (I went to my native country and got stuck in family issue). My family meet residency requirement without any problem, but I checked my stumps and that showed I am 47 days short as of today, If this time they sent me inside for checking my passport I am nervous I could have problem, I don't know what to do, how to avoid going inside. Last time also the officer was not very polite with me saying that you seems to travelling lot becareful otherwise your residency would be checked and incidently this time I am short.

Is there any way I can avoid his questions, what should I say if he find my days are just short about a month n half, I did work in Canada in 2008 and 2009 but that are just 77 hours, I don't have that proof with me at the moment.

I am nervous, please help, this time definetly I will stay untill my citizenship days completed as I lost my job in middle east due to uprising, I have a Condo, credit cards, bank accounts and many other documents but all in Canada

When they take you in to check your passport do they actually open a spread sheet up or bring up a calculator and go through stamps one by one for past 5 years? What if you are not sure and you did not do the calculation? I don't think you will be in any problem except of course you tell them yourself that you don't meet the residency obligation

Thanks for you reply, you are right I should not be doing unnecessary checking.

I was tense so wrote that question.

Worst case scenario, if they find that you do not meet the residency requirements, they can start proceedings to revoke your PR. They will still let you enter and you could appeal based on having your family in Canada. If you lose the appeal, your wife could sponsor you for PR again.
