Dear forum members,

I have few questions regarding situation at POE. I have read from this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-arriving.asp and the information presented is comprehensive but I would like to know from actual experience:

1. Whether Ones itinerary destination matters e.g. If one intends to go to waterloo but His itinerary is only upto Halifax where he wants to stay with a friend for a day or two?? Would that be a problem at POE for student / IO or CBSA officials?

2. Whether showing different letters of acceptance from another university can cause problem? e.g. If one wants to change the University name (from the one original approved when applying for visa) on study permit, he shows both offer letters and presents a valid reason for change (like better Funding or University ranking), Is it possible??? can it be problematic???

3. What are other problems faced by people at Port of Entry??

Please do reply. Thanks a lot for your kind contribution in advance.

Regards,
Aumer

they might ask you about your itinerary but you can tell them the truth and be like you have acceptance and you will be living with your friend for a few days and then moving on..

just stick to the university you got the visa for at POE

no problems unless you create one...it should go smooth if you get your facts straight

It was very straight forward for me 5 years ago, I gave them my letter of acceptance, scholarship, ticket and they only asked me a few questions. What university are you going to? What are you studying? and Welcome to Canada. My two friends however, who landed at the same time as me and where interviewed by the same officers, were asked a lot of questions bcs they were going to a college rather than a university ???. I would suggest you by a ticket ahead of time for your travel from halifax to waterloo, this way you will avoid the officer questioning your intention of going to school.
