Hi, I have a few questions regarding supporting documents for the sponsor of Permanent Resident Application.

I'm trying to get a permanent resident visa for my Japanese wife and we're both living in Japan right now.
I am working here, but as a freelance artist.

On the sponsor's document checklist (IMM 5491), the sponsor must attach supporting documents which includes an "Option C Printout" and evidence of self-employment income. I'm not sure how to handle this.

I called the Canada Revenue Agency and asked about how to handle the "Option C Printout" and Tax papers.
They told me that since I'm working in Japan I don't have to pay any money in taxes to Canada.

But,
1: Do I still need the "Option C Printout" from Canada Revenue Agency even if it doesn't have my tax or income information from the past few years?

2: Do I file my taxes here in Japan and send that paper instead?

3: or is there another paper I can send instead of this?

Thank you so much if you can help out!

Can offer a little advice on our situation which may offer you an insight, but our situation is slightly different.

My Wife is living here in the UK with me at present. She mover here towards the end of the Canada 2009 tax year.

She had had worked for 9 months of said tax year so obviously had filed her taxes for that portion and was able to provide an 'Option C'.

However, she also worked here in the UK and as our tax year runs until April, she also submitted in our application a letter explaining the above situation and provided CPC-M with her P60 from the Inland Revenue.

If you have no work history for Canada in the past tax year, maybe a cover letter and proof of paid taxes in Japan will suffice?

Hi,

I'm currently living in the US and sponsoring my partner to come to canada. I've been living here exclusively for 9 years, and haven't filed Canadian taxes since 2001, when I first moved to the US.

In our application, I requested my last Option C -- that was the 2001 Option C -- and sent that. I also sent proof of employment in the US, my paystubs for the past year (although I did not have all of them - I just sent what I could find) and a copy of my 2009 US tax return. I included a note with all of the information that explained why I did not have a prior year Option C and detailing the alternative evidence I had compiled.

Hope this helps!
