Hey all, My wife and I are getting the ball rolling on filling out some of the forms, and we have a few questions that have come up while completing them -
1. Both of us live in the U.S.A. currently. The "Schedule A background Check" asks to be submitted for the applicant and the spouse, but does the spouse have to submit that form if the spouse is the Canadian sponsor?
2. Do I, the Canadian Spouse, have to fill out the "Additional Family Information" form, or is that only for the U.S. Citizen?
3. Does each empty field in the Additional Family Information Form need "N/A", or can I rule out entire entries by putting N/A on the first line (where a name would go?)
3. My wife, who is the US citizen, and I don't have any kids at all. She has a mother and a brother as far as immediate family members are concerned. Do either of them have to fill out the "Schedule A Background Information" form?
4. On the General Application Form, there is spot for a national ID document - is this a Social Security Number card for US citizens? The field asks for an "Issue Date." Is that when the number was first issued, or when her most recent card was printed? There is no expiration date on SSN cards.
5. What do you put for intended occupation? My wife is going to University right now, and will continue going online after moving. I don't know that she's entirely sure what she wants to do after.
6. My wife is currently attending university. When they ask how many years you've completed, do they mean academic years completed (like 1st year/freshman, 2nd year/sophmore, etc.) or the amount of calendar years you've attended?
7. There is the "dependent" section on the general application which lists the following - "You must provide the following details about each of your family members, whether they will be accompanying you to Canada or not. You must include your spouse or common-law partner, and all your dependent children, and those of your spouse or common-law partner, who are not already permanent residents of Canada." Do I, the Canadian spouse/sponsor need to be included in that section, or should we leave it blank seeing as we have no children and I'm already a Canadian?
EDIT - another question -
8. Under the "Current Country of Residence" section on the general application. When "United States of America" is selected for country, and "Citizen" is selected for status, the "Date and place of your last entry into Canada" field greys out. Do you not have to answer that?
Let me know. Thanks!
