Questions about online visitors visa

Hello! I'm currently filling my visitors visa so I can visit my boyfriend in may
and I have a question:
-The visa is asking me for an invitation letter so I know what it says on the website but if this is online
Do i need to invitation letter to be notarized and then scanned in Canada by my boyfriend?? because it says

• Send your letter (notarized, if the visa office asks for that) to the person you are inviting to Canada. The person must then send this letter to the Canadian embassy or consulate outside of Canada when he or she applies for a temporary resident visa.

What is the best for the online visa?

I tried to contact them and ask them this question and all they stated in the email is that they cannot give any information about online application which is giving me a lot of frustration at this point cause i really don't know how this letter requested has to be
since the file need to be uploaded on the online document required to apply online
