Hi,

I have a few questions about the inland spousal application:

1. I live in the UK, and plan to go Canada as a visitor then apply for the visa inland. How would I go about applying?

2. When submitting the application, I read somewhere that you need to submit the sponsor & spouse app, as well as permanent residence and an open work visa application? I wanted to know if this was true, or if only permanent residence has to be submitted along with the sponsor/spouse app?

3. If my wife gets approved as a sponsor, when would I be able to apply for an open work permit?

4. In regards to proving financial situation, I have gathered bank statements and provided letters from my employer but I am on a temporary contract working in the UK, so when I eventually go over to Canada I will not have a job, and neither does my wife at the moment, she is staying with family. Would my visa get rejected if I do not have a job? I would be staying with my wife's family when I came over.

5. When would I be required to provide the medical/police information? Do I need to get any medical records from my doctors before applying for the visa?

6. After submitting the relevant applications and paying the fee - how long does it take to process?

7. For the relationship side of the application, I've gathered conversations from facebook/skype, have our wedding certificate which we got married in the UK (not Canada), supporting letters from people, bank/saving statements, letters from employers etc. Do I need to provide/gather anymore information?

1. If you are a UK citizen, I suggest applying outland. You can go to Canada as a visitor. They will probably give you 6 months. You can then apply inland or outland. Outland is much faster.
2. You submit the sponsor's application to sponsor, the applicant's application, and part 3 of the forms all together in one package. This is for outland.
If you sponsor inland, again all the forms go together, and you include the application for the open work permit (OWP).
3. If you are sponsored inland, you submit the application for the OWP with your application. It takes 4 or 5 months to get it.
4. Neither you nor your wife needs a job. You can include a letter in the application discussing your plans for the future. You can say where the two of you will live, what jobs you hope to get, etc. If any family members are offering help, such as a free place to stay, you should get a letter or affidavit from them stating this and include it in your application.
5. For outland, the police certificates and proof of the medical exam are sent in with the application. For inland, you send in the police certificates, but wait and send the medical when it is requested. You will need a police certificate from every country where you have spent 6 months or more, since the age of 18 (except Canada). The medical has to be done by a panel physician (one appointed by CIC). You should bring your medical file if possible when you move to Canada, but it is not needed for immigration.
6. It depends. Inland can take 2 years or more. Outland through the UK can take less than a year.
7. That sounds like good proof. You should also include photos, any proof of cohabitation, proof of trips taken together, and any proof of joined finances.
