7. Education

My husband, the principal applicant, dropped out of high school, got his GED and did some college. There is no option in the section to include the GED. Is it a good idea to add a separate piece of paper to note his GED certification?

And, 8. Personal History

All his life, he was self-employed, doing painting/woodworking/assembling/general carpentry because his father has his own company. However, he was NEVER certified, and he NEVER did taxes. Can I write about his work experience, or will the fact of him being uncertified and never doing taxes cause problems with CIC?

Thank you!

Just check it off as 'high school'.

All you need to put is "self-employed", not a life story. His not being certified and current tax situation is none of CIC's business.

I really appreciate that, thanks!

I don't know that I would agree with that, because failing to pay and/or file a tax return could in fact be a problem...a potential inadmissibility problem with CBSA (if they were to find out).

Somewhere around this forum, is at least one thread where a person ran into trouble with CBSA, but...I just can't seem to find it now.

My husband just checked off high school as well and had a similar situation

Yeah, I'll get him to file a tax return then before submitting the app. What about being uncertified for his type of work (woodworking/carpentry/painting etc)? Might that also be a potential issue?
