Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen wanting to sponsor my US boyfriend. We are almost complete our common-law application, but I do have some quick questions.

1. We are looking at getting some documents notarized, but not sure exactly what documents NEED to be notarized if any?

2. We have been dating for quite a few years but I have yet to visit his family due to work not allowing vacation and financial reasons. Should we still include a letter from his parents stating that they know about our relationship? We have a lot of letters already from my friends/family but not sure if we should include any from his family since I have yet to meet them?

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Hi

1. The instructions and guide are quite clear on things that need to be notarized. For an American, generally nothing needs to be.

2. Yes, you can include a letter from his family.

To clarify, when you say you have been dating a few years, do you have at least one year of continuous cohabitation?
