Question regarding family sponsorship PR

Greetings all,

I was hoping to know can I (The sponsor) leave Canada for any reason while my sponsored family (With Family Sponsorship PR) stay here during a short period? For any reason like family emergencies in another country or work trip or anything.

That depends. Are you also a PR or are you a Citizen?

If you are a Citizen, then yes, you may leave but be aware they may push for you to show proof that you are in fact returning to resume living here.

If you are only a PR yourself, then you may leave for short periods of time. There is no hard/fast rule about this, but the general consensus seems to be a couple weeks at a time for vacation and such. You should NOT leave for extended periods of time.
