Hello

I have just been issued my PR visa via the London office after many years of hard work applying while living in Canada under a visitor visa. Hurray! One last little problem remains and I have been trying to get through to immigration Canada but their hotline is always always busy so I figured I i'll try here while i wait. I am currently under implied status on my visitor visa awaiting extension. It expired in MARCH but they are so far behind I still don't have an answer even though the new one would expire in September haha... So I am going home to England for a trip to see my family in August 'cause it's been a long time (and will deal with Port of Entry on the way back in). If I leave without an extension it's going to look like I was here illegally for 5 or so months. What should I do? Are Immigration gonna be pissed? I don't want to cause trouble.. this has been relatively smooth sailing so far (long journey though)

Thanks for any advice

I think once you leave canada you set any over stay straight. Plus you have all the paperwork to prove you were on implied status.

Don't worry about it. When you leave Canada you will not pass through immigration, you will only meet them when you return to the UK and they won't care.

Then you can come back to Canada and 'land'.
Congrats!

You will have no problem when you return (with all your paperwork) to land.

Even if they send you a rejection letter for the extension, it wont matter, you are very likely to have landed anyway.
Either way, extension or not, they will know were you are when you land :)

It happens to a lot of folk.

Very reassuring, thanks for the advice! Don't need to talk to grumpy immigration now! FYI took 4 months for England to process my application if people are curious...

I am in a similar situation, probably going to land in 5-6 weeks when my passport is sent back. Been in Canada 6 months today actually, I applied for a visitor extension about 2-3 weeks ago before I got my PPR. I plan on brining the receipt for the extension when landing, as I have no other proof of applying for an extension as I did it by mail to slow down the process. Won't be offering it to the officer but if he questions it I'll show him/her.

"receipt for the extension when landing"

Good move, if you had received the extension (and a VR) then you should also carry it when landing.

When I landed as a PR I had a visitor visa application to extend still unprocessed. The IO asked about it when she was processing my landing. She saw my visitor record in my passport and asked why I didn't report when I left Canada. I told her that I had applied for an extension and that I got my PR before I heard anything on the extension. She just said ok; and cancelled my app for the extension. It did not seem to be a problem...I even got my $75 app fee refunded by mail a few weeks later.
