hi, i need some clarification regarding this since im so confused.

currently, im taking the metal fabrication foundation program in vancouver, which lasts only 5 months. To transition to the apprenticeship program i will need to find an employer that will hire me as an apprentice and register me with ITA so i can start my apprenticeship. From that i will have to complete my working hours before going back to school to do my lvl 2 and the same thing with lvl 3 and lvl 4. My question is what type of visa do i need for that, the co-op visa or the working visa where you need an approved LMIA?

and would i need to keep my study permit valid for the duration when im working or can i just renew it when i need to go back to school?

You need a full time job offer from your employer and that employer also needs to apply for an approved LMIA. You can the apply for a closed work permit. You do not qualify for a co-op work permit.

I'll be honest, it's typically extremely difficult to secure an apprenticeship as an international student because of the LMIA requirement. Additionally, many apprenticeships are only open to Canadians.

Good luck.
