Maybe someone can help me with this one. My Korean wife applied for PR in March 2013. She has been in Canada with me since May 2013 as a visitor. In June 2014 we still didn't have a decision so I contacted my MP's office who contacted Manila. They said Manila advised that my wife's visa would be issued on or before August 28th.
Well, Aug. 28th came and went without a word from Manila or any change in her ECAS status so I called the MP's office this morning to see if they could find out what was happening. A couple hours later they called me back and said "Congratulations. Her PR card has been issued. You should be receiving it the next week or two in the mail."
I had always understood that when my wife's application was approved we would receive a letter from Manila entitled Confirmation of Permanent Residence, probably by courier, at which point we could 'flagpole' at a port of entry and complete the process. I also understood that when we did our flagpole landing she would then apply for her PR card which would arrive a month or two later. When I explained that to the MP's office I was told that I was wrong, and that CIC was now just issuing cards with no flagpole landing necessary. This just doesn't sound right to me.
Does this sound correct to anyone? I have received so much misinformation from Manila on my wife's application I'm wondering if this is just a bunch of BS I'm being fed to make me stop bothering them for a while.
