Hello,
Question related to processing times and how COPR is issued.
My girlfriend is currently awaiting her COPR in Japan. She was living/working in Canada up until February of this year, got everything done...application, etc. Her application was already complete and she got an approval in principle, and then was awaiting an landing interview date.
But, she had to leave the country for a family Emergency. She flew back to Japan. She received her landing interview after leaving, which she of course couldn't attend.
So, she contacted immigration and informed them of everything (before she left). They told her that this was okay and that the Manila office will be able to issue her with the COPR and it would be sent to her updated address in Japan. In this letter she was told that her "landing documents" would expire on August 31st, 2019.
She's still waiting but we are getting nervous. What does the "landing document" expiring mean? Does that mean that her PR application documents expire on that date? As her application was passed onto the Manila office, does that mean they put her at the end of the line - as in...is her processing time as if it was new at the Manila office?
It's frustrating as obviously had she stayed in Canada, she could have attended the landing interview. Immigration Canada seemed to imply that this wasn't a big deal to miss.
Any insight or thoughts would be appreciated.
