Question on File Transfer from New Delhi to Canada

Hello All, I am thinking of applying for a student visa to Canada and then transfer my file from the New Delhi to Canada as my PR is delaying as per the current processing timeline. By doing this I wil be able to start living in canada and at the same time I think I can have my spouse working fulltime which can support our living in Canada. So my question is, do you think we will get our PR in atleast in two years if we do such a file transfer. The course I am planning is one year duration and with a one year work permit after the completion of the course. So what do you guys think that this can be a wise move or not? Please advise me good or bad.

I am just finding alternatives to start living in Canada.


Here are my present state: My initial application was sent on May 2010 and received AOR on Sept 30, 2010 then sent all documents in Oct 2010. I didnt receive second AOR and then sent an enquiry to the visa office and infored that they received my documents and its wating for a review.

I doubt it since you can't transfer a file to Canada. The processing times for applications are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/skilled-fed.asp#asia 80% of applications submitted after Nov. 2008 are being processed in 10 months.

The processing time in this link doesnt make much sense. I already completed 9 months and I can see many guys here already passed one year plus and there are no words from the visa office yet.

The other option I have is like leave the PR processing with Delhi visa office and reach canada in a student visa and by the time they ask for medicals and passoprt either have a representitive to carry passports to India and get back in the same way OR fly all the way back to India and submit it here. I am afraid of the time duration taken by the Delhi visa office after medical and passport submission which I could see in this forum are going beyond 3 months for some lads, so there is an uncertainity when I wil be able to resume my studeis in Canada.

I dont know whether to wait or do something to reach canada soon.

As you have already waited 9 months, I recommend you wait till you get the PR visa instead of going for any other kind of visa for reaching Canada. Whatever method you try, there could be a reasonable processing time at the Canadian Embassy, as well as the preparation for it from your side.

You could be right, but you know I am thinking about the uncertainities when I will be able to move into Canada and you know there can be longer wait as per the current processing timing. YOu can even see many guys here in this forum waiting for a medical call for 8 months plus.

I will be ok if I could move into the Canada sometimes this year, but a delay beyond this year is something to think serious.

Hope things will move a bit faster in the coming months.
