Question on automatic revalidation - Both me and my wife on H1B

My wife has an expired H4 visa stamp (valid till April 2020) on her passport. Her current i94 shows H4 since that was her visa last we entered the US and is valid till May 2021. In the meantime, in 2019 her COS to H1 was approved and she has valid i797A till 2022.

My situation - expired H1 Visa stamp in passport (valid till April 2020). Valid i94 till May 2021. New i797A valid till June 2023.

Can we both do soft landing in Canada via Detroit Windsor Tunnel and come back to US safely with above visa statuses?

Yes, its fine as long as you both have recent I94 received from uscis(the bottom portion of I797 has printed I94 which is valid). This bottom portion(this new I94) is your(both) current I94 and your visa on the passport doesnt matter while you are on status.

FYI - You would most probably be asked to quarantine as they are strict from Nov. So plan to stay for 14 days in Canada. Have a quarantine plan.
