U should inform CIC as course duration has changed by 1 year.

You may change your school, program and/or field of study without applying for a new study permit. You do not need to apply for a change to the condition of your study permit, either. You may continue to use your study permit as long as it is valid.

If you are changing your level of study (e.g., bachelor's to master's), you do not need to apply for a change to the condition of your study permit, either.

it doesnt say anything like informing CIC

this is the reply i got from my college.

At this time, you don't have to notify CIC of your program change. New regulation (scheduled to come in effect on June 1, 2014) states students will have to notify CIC if they change an institution but not a program. You can find more information at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-changes.asp

is this 100% correct? i dont want to get into trouble later. :(
