Hello,

I'm a Canadian Citizen currently working outside of Canada and planning to get married with my girlfriend this year.

I am wondering if there is any certain time limit for applying spousal sponsorship. (ie. must apply within X years of marriage) Would there be any problem if we apply after 5 years of marriage, say 2019 or would my application at that time more likely to be questioned or denied?

Appreciate your kind feedback and thanks so much.

There is no limit, and the longer that you have been married before you apply, the smoother the application process will be.

Right there is no time limit. It's expected you will apply when you are actually ready to move back to Canada and settle here permanently. If you are getting married and continuing to live in another country, then there is no point in applying as CIC asks for proof you will return to Canada.
