Hi,

I worked for 5 years in the Iranian Film Industry as an assistant director. Right now I am studying B Com. in India and on graduation, am planning to study PG Diploma in marketing management in Canada.

I've been thinking if it's possible for me to apply for immigration as skilled worker while in Canada. If I do choose to apply, can I use my experience in the film industry for application. What kind of proof do I need to show for this experience?

Since Directors are under skill level A (5131 ) I think it might be possible for me to apply for it.

According to hrsdc website. For employment requirements, I need

A university degree or college diploma in the performing arts, broadcasting, journalism, business administration, theatre production or film studies
and
Experience in a technical or production occupation in motion pictures, broadcasting or theatre are usually required.

Does this mean to qualify for this work experience, I need a degree as well as work experience? I have a degree in film studies from Iran, but I don't know if that is recognized in Canada.

Thanks in advance.

Are you thinking of applying under FSW?

If so, there is absolutely zero chance that 5131 will be on the desired occupations list that CIC will be releasing in April.

If you want to apply through FSW under 5131, you need a job offer in Canada.
