Thanks for reading this post, first of all.
Next, some basic information - I'm Korean, I've been accepted to SFU for Fall 2018, and I've been living in Japan from last September (gap year).
And...I have a dilemma. This dilemma depends on several confusing webpages.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=441&top=16
This page states that I need a medical exam "[if I] have resided or stayed temporarily for six or more consecutive months in a designated country or territory in the one year immediately preceding the date you sought entry into Canada."
I stayed in Japan since last September (therefore fulfilling the condition in which that I lived in Japan in the year preceding the date I go to Canada), which is NOT a country where a medical exam is required.
BUT.

This page says that I need a medical exam if I: 1. "come from a designated country/territory for which Canada requires a visa" 2. "will be here for more than six months"
...of which I fulfill both, in that

It says I need a medical exam if:
It's really confusing.
TL;DR: I'm a South Korean citizen. I've been accepted (not conditional) to SFU in Fall 2018. I've lived in Japan (and will continue to live) in the one year before I go to Canada to study. DO I NEED A MEDICAL EXAM?
Please reply. It'd be much appreciated.

- I come from South Korea, which is a designated country that needs a medical exam
- I'm going to university, which is going to be at least 4 years (if not more).

It says I need a medical exam if:
- " want to come to Canada for more than six months,
[*]"and have lived or travelled for six months in certain countries or territories in the year before you come to Canada."
[*]"You need a medical exam if there is a “yes” in the second column."
It's really confusing.
- Yes, I want to come to Canada for more than 6 months.
- Okay, I haven't went to any dangerous countries, except Japan, which is a country where medical exams AREN'T required.
- Japan has a big fat NO in the second column.
