Question about staying or going home.

Hello,
I am an international student and recently I just withdrew from my program and applied for another one that starts in January 2019. My visa and study permit will both expiring in 2020.

Do I have to go back to my home country now and come to Canada when my new program starts? Or could I stay in Canada and wait till January?

your study permit will expire in 90 days from the time you stopped being a full-time student. You can stay in Canada (any kind of work is illegal) but to get a new study permit, you need to cross into US border and come back to Canada (search this forum for the exact process).
Otherwise, you can go back and return when your program starts. You'll get the new study permit at the airport.
