Hello everybody,

I'm a little confused about something suddenly.

My boyfriend is going to be my sponsor and we want a few familymembers to write something about us, about that our relationship is genuine and continuing. My mom and my brother want to do that and a friend of my boyfriend. (I understand that when you have a common law relationship it is even an obligation that at least 2 people write something about us)

Until now I thought that thse people were called representative and that we had to use the form 'use of a representative' for this. I just wanted to fill them out and now I read that you can only have one representative, and that a representative is somebody who provided advice or guidance prior to your application.

Now my question is...

Is this form 'use of a representative' the right form for my mom, brother and my boyfriend's friend?
Or is a representative something else?

you dont need the "use of representative" form, as it is to give consent only if you have a lawyer or other person who is helping you prepare your application and advocating on your behalf. also, all information regarding your case will be sent to your representative. you only need to get signed and notarized (for confirmation of true copy and signature) letters from family members and friends from both sides proving your relationship is genuine, which we did in our case. i would also advise your common-law partner to get reference letters from his parents and other relatives, which are stronger than letters from friends, even though it is good to include those also.
hope this helps and good luck! :)

So if my mom writes a letter about our (me and my boyfriend's) relationship, I need to take this to a person like a notary, to get it signed and certified?

And another question. My boyfriend doesn't have any contact with his parents, is this a problem then. So we can't let them write something. Is this a problem?
