Hey everyone!

Just need some clarification..

First of all our application has been dragging and we just received our notes this morning which contained nothing of real value. We are currently in Canada together, my husband on his TRV. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to send in RCMP checks even before they request?

I'm also confused IF they will request at all. My husband has been to Canada 3 times now on his TRV. Never for more than 6 months at a time, but all 3 visits combined certainly surpass the 6 months...

Last activity on our application was in March 2017 when we sent in new medicals which have been passed. Emailed Mexico VO last week to get update, got a generic response of "your application is in process, we'll let you know if we need anything else. "

Also, we are expecting our first baby in October 2017, should I notify cic of this? I sure hope everything gets done before she comes!!

We applied in September 2016.

Thank you!

Don't do RCMP checks unless specifically requested. Typically these are not required.

There is no need to inform visa office about pregnancy. Only once baby is born you can update the "Additional family info" form, but this should not have any impact on processing since baby will already be Canadian so is more just for information purposes.

I dont agree with this. my husband is dominican and has been here since december and they requested one. it is required once he has been here for 6 months in one stay, not cumulatively. you can get it.. if he plans on being here for more than 6 months. its about 100 dollars..

Many people go through PR process without RCMP request, even if they were in Canada longer than 6 months.

As Rob said, most go through the process without it, as IRCC does their own checks with the RCMP.

It has nothing to do with him being here for more than 6 months. It was most likely because his details flagged up a match in the system and fingerprints were needed to show it wasn't him.

actually, in looking at our notes, there was no matches anywhere. they stated in the request letter that because he has resided here for more than 6 months they require it.. i know a few others who are in the same boat

right but not all... so it wouldnt be fair to say that they wont ask for it.... because they may and have recently to three others that i know of

I never said they won't ask for it.

Hey! Hope everything is OK on your end ;)!

Do you know if after I submitted the RCMP certificate (partner was last in Canada in January this year), if partner comes back to Canada again to visit for a few weeks and then leaves for home again while the app is being processed, that certificate should still hold up?

I think you might be right. I am very confused about the wording in GCMS notes. In our notes it states in several places that the RCMP fingerprints were requested. However they never emailed us to request it. Under status in the last entry, it said No Reportable trace (my partner the PA has a clean record). I emailed the VO to ask if they wanted our certificate and they did send us a letter requesting it. I am not sure what would have happened if we didn't enquire about that. Would the app still have been processed because they did their own search? But how do they do a fingerprint search if they didn't have his fingerprints on file???

Makes me wonder about what all that was about and and what it meant in our notes?!

definitely, especially if its just for a few weeks. they are good for a year....
