Wondering if anyone has done a medical test for a spousal immigration application lately. I'm in China, and I'm sponsoring my wife to immigrate to Canada. She did a medical test, but I'm concerned about the way the results were provided.

The medical test results that the hospital gave for my wife don't include a signature from the physician, which would seem to be a problem because IMM5491E, the documents checklist, specifically says the medical exam results must be signed by the doctor.

Has anyone else in China done one of these recently without a signature and had any problems with it? The hospital also claims they sent the results to Immigration Canada, which makes me think maybe they do this all the time and it's all normal, but I haven't heard anything about it.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to share their experiences on this. If anything is unclear let me know.

Most medical results are now sent to CIC electronically. As I remember, the document which was handed to me after my medical (in Canada) was not signed. Neither so far as I could see did it say that it was an Imm 1017, the number which still appears on the document checklist. I cannot check unfortunately because I forgot to take a photocopy before sending it off with my application. I think it likely that the document you were given is now acceptable even if it is not signed. I had no query about mine.

What your wife received from the hospital was not the medical results. she was given only a form that shows that she has done the med exam. The results are sent directly to the Regional Medical Office. CIC will ask for those results using the barcode and the serial number that's on the form your wife received.
