My PR application was just returned, because I didn't have my 21-year-old, non-accompanying daughter, fill out an IMM 5406 (Additional Family Information). I'm very confused as to how she should fill this out, because it seems that this is only for the applicant. Is there a different IMM 5406 for the "additional family members" to complete? I have included a link to the IMM 5406, so you all can see what I'm talking about. Any answers would be appreciated.

You the applicant shall complete Section A and sign if don't have spouse, common-law partner, ex-spouse, former common-law partner

You shall complete Section B for your 21 aged daughter if she is not already Canadian citizen.

Hi Steaky. I did that, but they said each person over the age of 18 who is listed on my application must complete their own IMM 5406. That's why I'm confused. It just doesn't make any sense :(.

These instructions are in the Region Specific Guides:

3 Additional Family Information. - You and each of your family members 18 years of age or older
must complete their own copy of this form.

Any family member over 18 must also complete the Schedule 1/Background Declaration as well.

It doesn't specify "accompanying" or "non-accompanying" so you must presume that it means ALL. Complete the missing info and send it back. They normally put applications that were returned for more info at the top of the pile.

No, there isn't a different form. Put the family member as the Applicant and then complete it from there. These forms are generic.

Sure it does - any dependent over 18 years of age has to fill out their own IMM0008 and their own IMM5406 - just as though they're the principle applicant. So, on the IMM5406, she'll list herself in Section A as the applicant, indicate whether she has a spouse or common-law partner, put your name under "mother", and her father's name under "father". In Section B she will indicate whether she has any children, and in Section C she will list any siblings - half and step included. She signs in each section as applicable (read the notes) and then signs at the bottom.

What threw me with the IMM 5406 was that it says "applicant", which, I thought, was me. I was worried about my daughter filling out a form with herself as "appicant"......just being paranoid about that being misunderstood and something else going wrong. I'm mad enough at myself for missing this in the first place :(

I'm a little confused on this form as well. My husband is the applicant (I'm the sponsor). Neither of us have any children. He has a ton of half and step brothers and sisters (both his parents were previously married, and his dad is remarried to someone who had kids of her own after his mother passed away). Do we have to list all of them for a spousal application?

Yes, only on IMM5406 - Additional Family Information form where it says to included half and step siblings. He does not need to list his step mother.
