Hello friends, I have an urgent question. I got a "90-days letter" from CIC about my sponsorship for my father's (who currently is in China) permenant residence.
In the "Identity and Civil Status Documents" section, there's one item says:
Marriage certificate(s), final divorce or annulment certificate(s). If married more than
once, include certificates from each marriage and divorce or annulment you, your
spouse or common-law partner have had;

Here's my father's situation. He married 3 times and divorced 3 times, now his is legally divorced.
He only has one divorce certificate, which is to certify his divorce with his latest (i.e the 3rd) wife.
He prossess no other marriage or divorce certificate now, because when he registered for his 3rd marrage, the Chinese authority already had him hand in his 2nd divorce certificate. Same thing happen when he registered for his 2nd marriage(the 1st divorce certificate got handed in to the authority ). His marriage certificates with all of his ex wife have been handed back to the authority when he obtained his divorce certificate as well.

In a nutshell, he married 3 times and divorced 3 times. He now only have the divorce certificate for his 3rd ex wife. All other divorce or marrage certificate had been handed back to the Chinese Civil authority.
My question: is it OK to submit only this divorce certificate to CIC?
Thank you from the bottom of my heart

You need to send the latest documents and write a letter explaining the situation,
If they require more information they will ask.

Good luck

Try to get some evidence that this is the normal procedure in China: a lawyer could write an affidavit for you about this, or you could find the relevant Chinese law and have it translated.
Then send this in with the third divorce certificate, and an explanation.

unfortunately there's no law requiring this. Just a common pratice of the Chinese Civil Affair bureau . but thanks anyway
