Question about CRIMINAL REHABILITATION - letter of reference

The application for Criminal Rehabilitation asks for letters of reference from professionals and/or public officials, but it doesn't say what information should be included in these letters. I assume they want to hear that the person writing the letter believes that I am not a threat to society or they do not believe that I will commit any crimes again. Does anybody here have any experience with this or have any idea what should be included in these letters? I have a few local public officials willing to help me but they are requesting what information needs to be include. Since I am having trouble finding specifics, I thought I would ask you guys.

We had two University Professors that knew my husband for 20 plus year and they stated what he was like then
and what he is like now...We also a friend that is a Parole Officer write a letter and said the same thing...just have them write a glowing truthful letter about you character!..
