Question about Citizenship through parent

Good day

I would like to inquire if I am eligible for Canadian residency through my dad.

I am 35 years old, my Father is Canadian Citizen by Naturalization, I was not born in Canada.

My father is late now, he died 2005 in Canada.

I have a half brother in Canada

I want to know if there is any chance I could be considered for a residency or citizenship

Agreed. We need to know if your father was already a Canadian citizen when you were born or if he obtain citizenship after your birth.

I think he was already a citizen because he was married and I have 2 older half brothers who are about 42 and 37. I do talk to my brothers but I do not want to ask them such questions as we just started communicating about 2 year ago. My father spent most of his life as a businessman in Quebec and I only met him when he came visiting our native home about 5 times before his death in 1995

What are my options if He was already a citizen and if he wasn't. I would like to know before I even discuss the matter with my half brothers.

You are only a citizen if he became a citizen BEFORE you were born.

If he became a citizen AFTER you were born, you have no claim to Canadian citizenship.

The date your father became a citizen is critical to determining your status. It's possible he may have lived in Canada for years as a permanent resident or even as a temporary worker before becoming a citizen. So the date of his citizenship is what you need to find out from your half brothers.
