Question about BOWP

Hi,

I haven't got any open work permit before. My employer laid me off due to shortage of work.
Am I eligible to apply for BOWP if my work permit will expire in 4 months?

you will be eligible only based on the following conditions:

The foreign national is currently in Canada;
They have valid status on a WP that is due to expire within 4 months;
They are the principal applicant on an application for permanent residence under the FSWP, the CEC, the PNP or the FSTP;
They have received a positive eligibility assessment on their PR application under one of the Economic Class programs above; and
They have made application for an open WP.

These are the conditions for BOWP

Currently be in Canada;
Have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within 4 months;
Have received confirmation from CIC that their permanent resident application is eligible under one of the four Economic Classes (FSWP, CEC, PNP and FSTP), and;
Have made an application for an open work permit.

Thanks for replying. I guess I am confused because many people in another thread saying they are holding a closed work permit when they submit BOWP. So I wonder if people who haven't had owp is eligible.

It doesn't matter what kind of work permit you hold right now, as long as it is due to expire
in the next 4 months.
