Query on "Education" in BkGrnd Declarn Form... please help!

Hello Friends,

The query I have, might seem to be a silly one; however request you to help me out, as I could not get the correct answer after a brief search...

In IMM0008 (Background Declaration) - Q.10 says:
Give the # of years of school you successfully completed for each of the following levels of education:
1) Elemenetary/Primary school
2) Secondary/High School
3) University/College
4) Trade School or other post secondary school
Also says: Give the full details of all the secondary and post secondary education (including university, college and apprenticeship training) you have had.

My education details are (from India):
1) S.S.C (secondary school certificate) (also called Xth standard)
2) Intermediate / +2 (duration: 2 years)
3) Bachelors Degree (duration: 3 years)

How do I split my education here?
1) Elemenetary/Primary school - 9 years
2) Secondary/High School - 1 year (SSC)
3) University/College - 5 years (+2,Bachelors)
4) Trade School or other post secondary school

Would the above be a correct split? General understanding is that elementary/primary is upto 5th standard (5 years); and secondary/high school is from 6th Standard to 10th Standard (5 years). But if I split it in these lines, then I would not be able to provide the certificates for 6th Standard to 9th Standard, as I donot have them. (Somewhere I read I need to provide the proofs of secondary education and onwards)

Is it mandatory to submit the certificates (Notarized copies) of secondary education other than SSC/Xth standard (i.e., 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Standard)?

Does "high/secondary school education" means 6th to 10th standard?
Does one need to provide ALL the certificates (notarized copies) from 6th to 10th standard?
Is it enough if one provides the notarize copy of Secondary School Certificate?

I know that certificates are not required for CIO, Sydney, NS stage; however are these required during later stage while applying with CHC?


I have not been able to get the answer inspite of detailed search. Can some one answer these please? I guess each of you would have filled these sections!!

YOU ONLY HAVE TO PROVIDE POST SECONDARY STUDIES normaly they require you can also check in visa instructions form...BUT EVEN IF YOU PROVIDE SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATE .THAT WILL BE ALSO OK...
Provide Secondary school or post secondary studies that showing automatically that you have passed your elemenetery school.

So, one needs to provide notarized copies of "post" secondary education ONLY. Means +2, bachelors(or diplomas), masters, etc. Providing secondary school certificate would be helpful additionally.

So, Education before Secondary School certificate, need not be provided/are not necessary for CHC ----> please confirm this statement.

By the way, I would need to apply to CHC ND --- but this is little far yet!

Dear Boltz
As i said earlier that you only have to provide school certificate

10th High school ( its not require by CHC but you can provide for best layout... they won't mind )
12th Secondary School
Bachelor degree or diplomas

all notarized copies and your degree transcript has to be in sealed envelope issue by university or college as u know already.

So education before Secondery are not necessary for CHC

I was able to see the below in CHC local office checklist mentioning:

Education/Qualifications/Certificates needed for "Post-secondary education documents", "University... blah blah blah"...

if i write primary till 8th std. and in secondary 9th,10th,11th and 12th then what to write in certificate issued for 9th standard? pre secondary or what? because i dont have any certificate of 9th class.and we have to give the details for secondary and post secondary education only.
plz clear this query!!!
