During my brief stint in Canada in the year 2005. I was on my company payroll for 10 months and after which I was on Employment Insurance for parental care. However my my Visa was valid for full one year. Putting the two together (10 months at 40 hours per week + EI for parental care), will this qualify for a full one year Canadian experience? If yes what should be mentioned in the express entry profile validity of the Visa time frame or the time until I was on payroll. If this adds up 35 points will get added to my CRS score for my express entry.

Thanks in advance for all the advice and help

No. You get points for time spent working or studying in Canada. Simply being in Canada does not get you any points.

Thanks a lot istari for the clarification. So even Parental Care (which is not a layoff) is not considered for the experience. Sorry for the repetition, the reason I am asking again is, as per Parental care rules the employer should keep the job open for the employee and allow the employee to join work. Hence asking this again.

If you were working for 30 hours per week during that time, it counts. If you were not working for 30 hours per week, it does not count.

Thank you so much for the clarification. In my case I was not working at all during parental care leave

Then it doesn't count.

Sorry. And good luck.

The experience has to be gained within the last three years before you apply.

Minimum requirements
You must:

have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply,

Oh, I misread the OP; I thought it said 2015. My mistake.

It doesn't really make a difference, though; it doesn't count anyway.
