Hey guys, I am newly here, I've been learning the official website of Immigration Canada and Quebec for few days, still not clear what to do to sponsor my common-law partner(no children) to Quebec.
Im planning to send my application to CPC-V, now Im confused what document should be included in my first application package? I read the guide the website, but when I go to the checklistIMM 5491, some of the document was not indicated whether it should be included for residents of Quebec.
Do I need to send the :proof of relationship to sponsor; police certificates and clearances; medical examination for sponsored person; all in my first application package?
Or can anyone kindly tell me what did u include when u send the application package for Quebec inland application? :o Many thanks~!

Hi QuebecBee!

proof of relationship to sponsor; police certificates and clearances; medical examination for sponsored person ----> all of these have to be included in the initial application package
You have to submit everything that the checklist specifies, and I think Quebec has an extra fee to pay, as well as another form and document specific for Quebec, maybe someone that has applied from Quebec can guide you more in this.

Just a question, why are you applying inland? Where is your partner originally from?

thanks a lot bonbon9~!

for your questions, my partner is from China, and living with me in quebec for more than a yr now. we want to apply inland because her current work permit will be expired in 2months,but unemployed now,so she is applying school to get a study permit for now. we know we can apply a visitor permit, but she dont want to just doing nothing during the processing time. therefore we are not sure whether she can get the study permit. As far as I know, if u dont have a legal status during ur application outland, there is a risk of expelled when the case is refused. Did I make mistake?

Any one applied in Quebec share ur experience? thx~!

Hello, QuebecBee!
If her initial work permit was valid for one year, she is eligible to apply through Buffalo Office. However, as her case can be processed in Beijing, I would suggest applying outland through this office, as it's faster than Buffalo. Downside is that if you were called for an interview she would have to travel to Beijing, instead of going to Buffalo (it wouldn't be a problem if she has U.S. visitor visa). I would suggest taking outland route instead of the inland route, as it takes longer and she would get her work permit later than she would get her PR status from Beijing.
During outland process your partner can stay in Canada. I hope she can get a study permit, that'd be great! Yes, it is very important to maintain a valid status (valid visitor, work or study permit) while you're in Canada.

Check out the processing times for Beijing and Buffalo:

Yes QuebecBee it is faster to apply outbound (even if she is in Canada at the moment). The Beijing office is quite fast at the moment, the difference in time could save you almost a year potentially. Even if you are in Quebec, you need to apply as usual to Canada. There are just a few forms you don't have to send, if you are in Quebec. Then- once your sponsorship is approved- you will receive a letter advising you what to do if you live in Quebec. (You send more forms to the Quebec government and also pay more fees). But they tell you what to do as you go.
