Hello, I'm 21 y/o from Portugal and I've got a girlfriend in quebec and we are dating for 1 year now, she does not want to sponsor me "yet" and I'd rather have her not sponsoring me because I want to do this by myself, however if that's the only option left she will do it.
So the plan is me moving to Quebec and live with her, I was thinking if it's possible to go there as a 'visitor' up to 6months but look for a job instead, I've a place to live (idk if the customs will agree on this, however her parents are okay. Maybe a letter of invitation from her, or her parents would convince the customs to stay up to 6months)
Alright so is this possible? Can I just go there and plan my life in 6months hopefully get a job on the 1st-2nd month as I'm aware that LMO and WP alone can take up to 4months so I would need to act fast, but that's the plan.

I just want to be able to move there as soon as possible, having a hard time finding a job in Portugal, I've got the funds to 'support myself' during this period of time, and it would help my relantionship as well, the distance is killing us.

Also I'm currently taking french lessons so that won't be an issue, I'm very good with english as well.

Any opinions would be apreciated , thank you.

I would expect it will be challenging for you to find a job and I don't think any of us here can guess whether you'll be able to secure something during your six months stay. I would really focus on learning French as well as you can before you leave for Canada. The fact you're not fluent in French is certainly going to work against you. But by all means give it a try and hopefully you'll be able to find an employer.

When you arrive in Canada, make sure you look like a genunie tourist (someone who is just coming for a visit) - rather than someone who is looking to move to Canada. Make sure you have a return ticket and don't pack like you're moving. Make sure you can demonstrate that you have enough money to pay for your stay and don't carry anything with you that makes it look like you will be searching for a job.

Good luck. Hope things work out for you.

Thanks for the advice I will certainly do that, I'm visiting her for this Xmas now and I already been there once so I know how the customs work, anyways that's a really good tip.
But you think I would be able to search for a job while in 'vacation', its not impossible right? I'm improving my french and I want to do this somewhere arround next year close to summer, so meanwhile I could just look for a job offer, will my chances be higher?
And one more question , even if I get a job and then apply for LMO and WP do I still need to get Certifcat du Quebec?
Medical and police , and English and French exams?

Thank you
