Queation about common-law status - Worry about misrepresntation

Hi everyone,

I have a question that has been haunting me for the PR application.

My common-law partner and I have both been invited to the program.
However, we have some questions about our marital status.

Although we have been living together for over 2 years, we weren't into each other and enter a relationship until we lived together for 1 year. After we enter the common-law relationship, we also informed CRA to change our relationship.
Now, since we applied for PR we are worried about we are flagged as misrepresentation. It's hard to prove that we were just roommates during the first year.

We don't want to hide our relationship since it's actually a common-law relationship between us, but will this situation be considered a misrepresentation to IRCC?

Why would you inform CRA first before IRCC? Or why not at the same time? I am beyond confused. The issue now is if IRCC ask for your tax information and see a discrepancy between your marital statuses in your tax account vs your immigration account.

I would declare it before IRCC asks by providing the common law stat declaration. I mean, it took me about 4 months after reaching the 1-year milestone to declare my marital status update because my partner refused to sign the common-law union form initially.

Are you applying for PR separately or?
