My family and I are currently recovering from COVID.

I called the Canada govt central booking line to ask if we will exempted from hotel quarantine and arrival testing.. The gentleman was very patient and explained that since we have tested positive between 14 and 90 days prior to our scheduled flight, we do not need to do any further testing and we will not be required to book mandatory hotel at airport. Instead, we will be required to go straight to our quarantine apartment and strictly isolate for 14 days.

Just putting it out there in case someone else is in the same situation.

Yeah it is the same as it was before. Although the doctors panel recommended that they increase it to 6 months from the current 90 days. But this will save you 1200-1500 CAD for a single person.

Cool, at least we get some benefit from unfortunately contracting this bloody virus!

Today is the date when vaccinated travellers can avoid the 3-day hotel quarantine and even the 11-days if covid negative following the test in Canada, I don't see any changes to the ArrivaCan app where one can upload the vaccine certificate.

I have seen some people saying it changed when they updated the app. try that.

Update the app, or delete and re-install.

Even with the covid certificate upload, 14-day quarantine plan is required, I have private accommodation for 8 days, I wonder if CBSA will accept the explanation it can be extended it to 14 days if required. Booking the whole 14-days will result in no refund when I have to stay for fewer days.

EDIT:So you were positive for COVID and you uploaded the positive test? If so, you still need the 14 days of quarantine, so you should book the full 14 days.

Why would you require a refund for the 14 day? You HAVE to do it, even if fully vaccinated. I doubt CBSA would accept 8 days booking when you clearly need to quarantine for the full 14 days.

Not if one is fully vaccinated, there is no 3-day hotel and remaining 11-day quarantine requirement, only have to show the plan that can quarantine for 14-days in the event of a positive test.

Yes, you are right - I edited my post.
Which category do you fall under? Recently recovered or fully vaccinated?

Fully vaccinated, quarantine is only required until test result is available, if negative then one is released from quarantine So if I book the whole 14 days and I only stay 3 days, remaining 11 days non-refundable.

Gotcha. I was confused when you said you uploaded "covid certificate" as opposed to a "vaccination certificate" :D. I think you should be fine for the 8 days booking. You can explain that it is easy to add on the extra days if required.

Which day are you flying?

My mistake, I should have made it clearer that it's vaccine certificate.

That's what I'm thinking, leave for 8-days. Saying that, there are some rentals that allow last minute cancellation also.

Planning the 14th this month.
