Hi,

We had received our CSQ on 20th Nov, 2012. I am a student at U of Montreal.

I would like to apply for Permanent residence along with my wife and my son. Also, I would like my wife to work here on a short term work permit (temporary resident visa), till I complete my studies, so she can also support me. However, someone suggested that I apply for temporary resident visa first before applying for permanent residence, (which I can probably do later on after they are in Canada).

So, now I am planning to apply for residence alone for now, to avoid confusion. Parallely she could apply for temporary resident visa from our home country, on the basis of my student visa. Is this possible? Would you suggest any other alternatives, which less confusing and still straight forward?

Thanks,

Martin

You have to include your wife and child in the application. You can flag them as non-accompanying (i.e. they won't be coming with you to Canada) - but you have to include them and they have to complete a medical.

If you exclude them then you can never sponsor them.

Thank you for the reply. Is there any specific rules concerning applying tourist visa after applying for Permanent Residence? I mean can we apply for PR together and soon after apply for her tourist visa?
