qorax.pls help!!we recived our medical instruction and my husband were requested to submit a police clearance from guinea bissau, west africa.upon checking the website given by the embassy,i found out that there is no embassy or consulate here in the phils.will the visa officer allow my husband not to proviide that particular PC since there is no embassy or consulate to assist us in getting the PC.and also do they give extension coz, we were given only 60days to submit otherwise it will lead to the refusal of our application which is stated in their letter. i need your advice!!!thank you.....

Oh my god, they are ... insane. Can you clarify - is your husband a citizen of Guinea Bissau or...?

First, let's get this out of the way - the not-so-helpful info on the CIC website:

Guinea Bissau

Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Yes.

How and where do I obtain one?
You must apply for a casier judiciaire with your national identity card, to the tribunal of the region where you reside.

Second - according to the the US State dept - not much better but at least there's a postal code.

Police Records

Available. A Registo Criminal is available from the Departamento de Registo Criminal, Ministerio de Seguranca Nacional e Ordem Publica, C.P. 13, Bissau.

Third - contact the Embassy of Canada to Senegal, Guinea-Bissau is their area. Contact the consular section by email. They probably won't help, but you will get that in writing.

Remember to document, document, document EVERYTHING. Time/date of every phone call made, letter sent (receipts are better), faxes sent, etc. In the event that you cannot get it, you have to prove you made the effort.

Finally, on the CIC website:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

"If you are unable to obtain a police certificate from a country because you are a refugee from that country or for any other reasons, please provide a written explanation."

Ahh jes_ON, bang on there !!! Well said, perfectly correct. Kudos, buddy!

R u a resident of Buinea Bissau? If yes, u can ask any of your relatives/friends to obtain that PCC on behalf of u. All u need to do is to send your finger prints (obtained from a local PS in Phills) & an Authorization Letter - off course the fees too. 'Coz CIC might not accept a written explanation.

If u r not; & r a Filipino, having only worked there, send CHC a "Waiver Request" - explaining your situation (something akin to what u have posted here). God willing, usually they'd accept that. jes_ON has provided an invaluable advice/service to u there.
