Hi Everyone,

This forum is specifically for people who moved from the US to Canada after getting permanent residency, however are still maintaining their H1b's and still getting paid in the US banks.

I would really appreciate if you could answer my couple of questions so that anyone who's riding two boats gets benefitted.

Here are my questions:
While residing in Canada and getting the days counted towards applying for canadian citizenship while still working for a US company on H1b and being paid in the US:
1) Did any of you get any kind of complications from CIC when you applied for your Canadian citizenship?
2) Did they ever suspect your ties to the US and your intent to seek Canadian citizenship?

Most of the guys in the forum are the ones that are still moving from USA to Canada. You might want to post these questions in Citizenship forum.

Also, CIC is only concerned if you hold PR of multiple countries ( for ex - GC from USA and PR from Canada). H1B does not matter. Also if you are residing in Canada, then you are not on H1B status. Your H1B status is active when you are on US soil.

So long you can prove your days, it would not be held against you. But you would have to disclose it. Question #13 of the current (Jan 11 2018) citizenship application form asks for all immigration status that you have ever had in any country.
