Hello,
I'm filling out my Express Entry (FSW) form (post-ITA). One question that it asks me is:
Does X have a relative who is a citizen or permanent resident of Canada?
I have an aunt who lives in Canada. I don't know if I'm awarded any extra points for this but I don't need them. However, if I answer the question truthfully the form asks me to provide a proof of relationship and also my aunt's status in Canada. The status is easy enough to get. However, proving the relationship becomes difficult:
- My mother died in 1992. We probably have her death certificate somewhere but that will also only have her father's name.
- She had a passport made in the late 80s but again, that will only mention her father's name.
- As far as I know, we do not have her birth certificate and it would be next to impossible to get at this point (her father has died as well and her mother has dementia).
Considering this, how can I proceed? I can provide my aunt's birth certificate (I think), passport and utility bills. I can, at most, provide my mother's passport. In these documents, only my mother and aunt's father's name can be cross-checked.
