Hi,

I have been accepted by a Canadian university (University of Toronto) for a Masters program. I have two questions while applying for visa:

1. My parents live in Islamabad, but I have a brother who lives in Canada and is a citizen there. I do not have any other sibling. Can they use my brother being a citizen there as a reason for stating insufficient ties to Pakistan?

2. I was denied a temporary resident visa (visit visa) in 2007. Does that make it harder for my application to get accepted now?

Any ideas on how I can prove sufficient ties?

I have a sister living in Canada as a permanent resident and I got in without even an interview call. It all depends on YOUR intention of going to Canada. If you can play that part truthfully and downplay your reasons of coming back (because everyone has a family back home they want to return to) chances are they won't even question it.
