Focus more on QUALITY of your proof rather than QUANTITY of your proof.

Yes, thus the question if less is more :) It's just that I've been reading these threads where a LOT of things are being sent and while I did think the documents we gathered were sufficient, it occurred to me that our relatively thin-ish file might give pause to VOs who're usually bombarded with a whole lot more. Nor did we want to seem over-eager when it'll be clear to them we've been together for over 8 years, and perhaps why are we trying so hard, you know?

I didn't see a picture of other peoples' apps until after already mailing mine, the whole thing of which fit into a standard A4 envelope with a card backing (ie, thin). This was under the old system, where everything was sent upfront (the new one sends some things upfront, other things later on request). Sailed through in a few months. Most people make the VOs life too hard by including stuff that isn't needed, too much stuff, or irrelevant stuff. The requirements are written down - if they needed people to exceed them to prove a r/s, the requirements would be set higher.

Good to hear, spousalsponsee. And yes, the new checklist is pretty clear on what to send wrt relationship proof. Not so much for the documents to send to prove sponsor's intent to return and source of support when sponsor lives outside. Quite a few outside-Canada sponsors seem to have been asked to give additional proof of return. So to that end, these threads here have been really helpful to potentially avoid delay in the processing of our application. Also, it's purely due to us chancing on a reply in a huge thread that made us aware that one of our key identity documents needed additional supporting documents since its registration was late. So it has mostly been helpful to have seen these posts, but yes, the flip side has been that some posts about relationship proof has had us wondering if our file is a bit inadequate. Glad to hear from successful applicants who sent similar applications that the minimum plus a couple more documents do suffice.
