Hello,

I've received ITA for BCPNP. However, I only have 16 months of full-time experience. I've worked as freelance engineer on intermittent basis for multiple years with a SINGLE company. I got paid by the company directly. I worked with this company (US based) from India while completing my bachelors.

Therefore, I've a couple of urgent question -

[1] Can I claim point for freelance work experience for which I got paid as professional while being a full-time student?

[2] What would be the best way to prove intermittent work experience on freelance basis? Do I need to have continuous 20 hours/week work to claim points for part-time experience?

[3] Would a reference letter with details be sufficient to prove experience? I don't have tax records.

I would really appreciate quicker response.

1) Yes.
2) You want to show you have the hours that add up to at least 8 months of full time work. So you would want evidence to show you have at least 960 part time hours (i.e. 8 (months) * 4 (weeks per month) * 30 (hours per week).
3) You would want to show payments too. So bank deposits, invoices with payments, online records of payments or deposits, etc.

Thank you @scylla for the quick response. S, it's completely fine to claim points for self-employment part-time experience while being in full-time study? Is freelance work considered different from https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=393&top=29 ?

Another quick question -

[1] How should I add the dates for this in the application? For example: I worked for around 3000 hours with this company between 2014-2018 on intermittent basis where each project was around 35 hours. Given the work is not continuous, how should I add it in this section:

as setting start date to 2014 & end date to 2018 would calculate 20hours/week for those four year as experience, which is not accurate.
