Dear All,,

I have claimed 5 points as my aunt(mothers sister) is a canadian citizen. Now i am on the way to send all the doccuemnts to CIC london. My question is , how can i proof or what are the doccuments needed to proof that she is my Aunt.

The birth certificate of the aunt and the birth certificate of your mother should both show the same parents. Your birth certificate shows who your mother is. A copy of the aunts passport should prove that she is a citizen.

My brother will be married to a canadian citizen next week, however he will hopefully get a PR in 6 to 8 months...

I will be applying in few weeks now..can I claim 5 points for relative in canada in regards to my brother's wife as she is a canadian citizen...she will be my sister in law...does this relationship qualify??

No, sister in law will not count:

E. Relatives in Canada:
You or your accompanying spouse or common-law partner has a relative, i.e. parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, child of a parent, (sibling), child of a grandparent, (aunt/uncle), or grandchild of a parent, (niece or nephew), who lives in Canada and is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

If you need the points, you have to wait until your brother gets his PR.

I beg to disagree with you on the advise of non eligibility of sister in law
as a relative in Canada.
I used my sister in law as my relative in Canada by attaching a copy
of her Canadian Passport alone as a proof to my application.

@gtarrk, i honestly believe you can use your sister in law as your relative in Canada.
this is based on my experience( thats what i used)

Yes i agree with Leon he is right. As if you see the forms Schedule 3, Question # 9 thre it is mentioned

This proves that either the being a principal applicant i can claim points for my brother in law otherwise thers no need to ask this question.

My money is being taken as my spouse's money when counting proof of funds. Likwise, under the factor Adoptability my supose's education is earning m points then why not mine or her's sister or brother would be considered

So please go ahead and claim your points you shall get it and please dont say anything without full kowledge you may mislead anyone

We can all agree or disagree with Leon but what Leon has put up is the guidelines for all applicants to follow as dictated by CIC. I definitely do not see any "sister-in-law" according to the CIC list. At the end of the day if you can afford it then certainly you can try your luck , and i guess it would be at the VO's discretion whether he awards the points or not. Otherwise you would be better off waiting for your brothers PR first.

@f2 in your case was your relationship to your your sister-in-law in this same way mentioned here ie brothers wife ?
Your spouses sister is also a sister in law and in that case it becomes the spouses sister and fits the CIC list
