I am sponsoring my wife (Russian) for residency in Canada. I am a Canadian citizen living and working in Russia for 2 years now. I also teach online for a US university and have been doing this from Canada in the past but I do not have a job offer from a Canadian company. In Q11 of the Sponsor Questionnaire IMM5540 they want "proof of your intention to return and establish yourself in Canada." I do not have any property (Apartment, house or car) in Canada now that I have left two years ago. I do have my money and bank accounts there. My question is will that be sufficient for proof of my intention? We do not plan to get an apartment until we return and need residency to do that. I want to continue living with my wife while we wait for her residency. Surely this is possible. Has anyone had any experience with this scenario and can advise?
 
Can you get any company, former employer, even a relative to give you or your wife a job offer in writing? Can you write up elaborate plans on where you will live and work? Will you initially be staying with relatives when you arrive? Get that from them in writing that you can stay with them and that they know of your plans to move. When you do not have proper evidence, you have to try with something like above.
 
Thanks for the advice. Staying with relatives is possible upon our return. Job offer is not likely to happen. Is the job offer just helpful or essential? I have a job that I can do while in Canada so financial support isn't a problem just proof of intent isn't possible with the job?
 
Write about the job you could do then, even if you can't get a proper offer. Just try to show as much as you can and hope it'll be enough.
